Recently, Madison Park has become a hot neighborhood, thanks to close proximity to center city Charlotte and a wide range of conveniences for families and singletons. The neighborhood, located off Woodlawn Road, is just a few miles from uptown and a stone’s throw from Park Road Shopping Center with its Harris Teeter, movie theater and restaurants, such as Fuel Pizza and Sir Edmund Halley’s. The patio at Sir Ed’s is popular with people and their dogs when it’s warm out. Madison Park dwellers also like to hang out on Montford Drive. The bar scene is like a second uptown social setting, thanks to the likes of Angry Ales and the Press Box. There are also restaurants, such as Andrew Blair’s, known for its Montford Chicken, and a bowling alley. Generally, homes here were built in the 1950s and 60s. Most are ranches or split-levels with beautiful hardwood floors. Many of these homes have been or are being lovingly renovated by ambitious young homeowners.
